The death of Robert’s wife Leslie was initially assumed to be from slipping and falling in the bathroom while she was in the shower, which had hit her head on the marble bench, as stated by Robert.
But the District Attorney Fitzpatrick didn’t get convinced with the story about Leslie’s death as they were on trial for separation from each other. The medical examiner doctor, Roberts, ruled the case to be caused by accident, but her death was not justified yet, and the case was re-opened.
In 2015, after eight days of testimonial, it was found he was guilty, and the jury gave the verdict to twenty-year in life imprisonment. But when the misconduct of one of the jurors was found, he got released from the prison in 2018. The case has been opened again in 2022 as it got delayed for two years due to a pandemic.
