The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) raised “great worry” on February 19, 2022, over the whereabouts of a doctor who got accused of being a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and seized by cops.
Dr. Maria Natividad Castro was seized by cops on Friday, February 18, 2022, after the Regional Trial Court of Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, issued an arrest warrant for her on January 30, 2020, for alleged abduction and severe unlawful detention.
Requests for copies of the arrest warrant, papers and reports related to Castro’s arrest, and transportation, according to Diokno, “went unheeded.”

Her relatives last saw her at the PNP Intelligence Group headquarters at Camp Crame. “FLAG is quite concerned about the whereabouts of Dr. Maria Natividad Castro,” Diokno said.
Within 24 hours, FLAG asked that the PNP confirm Castro’s location, present her physically, and provide access to her family and lawyers.
