Don Lemon, a CNN anchor, has criticized the network following his termination, which followed claims of sexism and inappropriate behavior.
Mr. Lemon posted on Twitter, “I am stunned,” after being informed by his agency that he had been fired.
We wish him well, CNN said in a statement after “parting ways” with Mr. Lemon, who co-hosted its morning show.
It comes after comments made by Mr. Lemon on television in which he questioned if Nikki Hayley, a Republican, was “in her prime”.
The firing also follows another significant US media exit. Fox News said it was parting ways with primetime personality Tucker Carlson just before Mr. Lemon made his statement.
Mr. Lemon has been a stalwart of the network for a long time; most recently, he co-hosted CNN’s This Morning show.
