Fact
After making fun and offending some candidates vulgarly as juror on Deutschland sucht den Superstar (2002), a German federal agency, comparable to the FCC in the US, announced an investigation (January 2007).
In December 2006, two men entered his house, fettered his girlfriend Carina and two employees and forced him to give them about 60,000 Eur. After he had managed to escape and call the police, the offenders fled. The public considered it quite unusual that he was interviewed by tabloid “Bild” and TV network RTL just two hours after the crime had happened.
Formed the pop duo “Modern Talking” with Thomas Anders in 1984. They split up in 1987, but tried a successful comeback in 1998 and performed until 2003. Although being criticized for playing the same song in countless different versions, they had several number 1 hits through Europe such as “You’re my heart, you’re my soul” (1985), “Cheri Cheri Lady” (1985) and “Brother Louie” (1986).
Global sales of all records he has produced exceed 165 million units.
Lives on his mansion near Hamburg.
Studied economics at the University of Göttingen.
His former mother-in-law, mother of his first wife Erika, died about 2004 and was buried in Dransfeld near Göttingen, Lower-Saxony, Germany.
Separated from Estefania Küster shortly after their son Maurice Cassian was born (August 2006).
Children: Marc (b. 9 July 1985), Marvin Benjamin (b. 21 December 1988) and Marielin (b. 23 February 1990) with Erika Bohlen; Maurice Cassian (b. 7 July 2005) with Estefania Küster; Amelie (b. March 2011) and Maximilian (b. September 2013) with Carina Walz.
Most successful producer/songwriter in German music biz with more than 500 gold and 50 platinum records.
Lived for years – prior to and after marrying Verona Pooth – with German Playboy model Nadja Abd el Farrag.
His autobiography “Nichts als die Wahrheit” (lit. The whole truth) was published in 2002 and became the year’s bestselling book in Germany. Its successor “Hinter den Kulissen” (Backstage) caused a huge outrage among celebrities because he openly talked about the entertainment industry and many colleagues.
Also composed some music for the legendary German TV series Derrick (1974).
