In 2010, Danry Vasquez was an unknown prospect who was signed as an international free agent and handed over a signing bonus of $1.2 million. The 6-foot-3, 86-pound heavyweight baseball player has since hinted at the possibility of becoming a great player. However, he hasn’t been able to repay the faith he had in his talent as his career seems to have slipped away. Read on to learn more about his career and love life.
Who is Danry Vasquez?
Danry Vasquez was born Danry Josué Vásquez Blancole on January 8, 1994 in Ocumare del Tuy, Miranda, Venezuela. Details regarding his family, early life and childhood are not known. It is unclear what kind of upbringing he received, however, it is evident that he demonstrated enough athletic ability and baseball talent as a youth to attract the attention of some American scouts.
In 2010, an American professional baseball team, the Detroit Tigers, signed him as an international free agent. Little was heard of Vasquez between that time and 2012, when he started the 2012 season with the Midwest League’s Grade A Whitecaps, the West Michigan Whitecaps. After some poor performances, he was demoted to the Connecticut Tigers, the Penn-New York-Class League team of the A season.
After gaining weight and improving his game, Danry Vasquez was promoted to the Whitecaps for the 2013 season. During the same season, he recorded a .281 batting average with five home runs and 39 runs. This performance prompted the Major League Baseball team, the Houston Astros, to trade him for him. The Astros then assigned him to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League. He then played for the Lancaster JetHawks of the California Class A-Advanced League and the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Texas Class AA League before being released by the Astros due to an off-court incident.
Other teams Danry Vasquez has played for include Freelancers in Baseball League include the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic Professional Baseball League and the Piratas de Campeche of the Mexican League. After the 2018 season, he remained free.
Does he have a girlfriend or a wife?
Danry Vasquez has a wife, and he is to all indications happily married, but the identity of his wife is unknown at this time. However, it is known that he met her after he broke up with his former girlfriend, whom he abused back home.
In August 2016, the baseball player was arrested while playing a game for the Corpus Christi Hooks Class AA Texas League on suspicion of assault and domestic violence. Video cameras had caught Vasquez physically assaulting his now-girlfriend, Fabiana Perez, in the stairwell of Whataburger Field baseball stadium, prompting stadium officials to call the police. As the story progressed, Vasquez had seen Perez talking to a friend at the stadium and got angry. When the two men began to enter the lonely stairwell, he attacked her, leaving her with a fractured nose and bruises.
After the arrest, Perez chose not to press charges against her partner although she noted that this was not the first time he abused her. Prosecutors later dropped the domestic violence charge against him as he attended anger management classes, paid an undisclosed fine and performed community service. That didn’t stop Major League Baseball from putting him on administrative leave as a parent team, however, the Astros released him.
Danry Vasquez and Fabiana Perez stuck together after the assault and his run-in with the law. In October 2016, he posted a photo of himself and the woman as they smiled with the caption. “The person who is always with me in the good and the bad!” The couple’s relationship deteriorated soon after and he moved on to another woman whom he eventually married. It’s unclear exactly when the wedding took place, however, it was in November 2017 that Danry got engaged to his new wife.
In an interview with elemergente.com, Vasquez opened up about his wife, saying she was supportive of him through it all and was an unconditional loving person when it came to the domestic abuse incident. He later apologized again for the incident, adding that he had left everything in God’s hands.
