He also sought to build strong relationships with other countries, particularly with Japan, other Asian countries, Europe, as well as Africa. He helped form China’s National Security Commission, and serves as its chairman. He also restructured and modernized the military. Wanting to stay in power longer, he proposed the removal of the term limits for the presidency in 2018. Currently, his titles include Paramount Leader, Leadership Core of the Communist Party of China (CPC), General Secretary of the CPC, President of the CPC, and the chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC). He is an advocate of what he terms as the Chinese Dream inspired by the American Dream. To this end, he also pursues an integration of independent nations such as Hong Kong and Taiwan, wanting them to become a part of China.
