Casey Skudin died while on vacation with his family. He was off-duty traveling in his car in Asheville, North Carolina.
The sources have revealed that his family’s vehicle was destroyed after a tree had fallen on it. They were traveling at the time of the windstorm. The incident had taken place when the family was off to see the Biltmore Estates. The family SUV was way to the entrance of the tourist attraction when suddenly a tree fell above them.
Skudin had died instantly at the scene. Luckily, his wife and son managed to survive. The news of Skudin’s death was confirmed by his father David.
According to news sources, an investigation into the incident is underway.

Casey Skudin’s wife Angela Skudin and sons; Ben and CJ have luckily survived the accident. Although, CJ still remains hospitalized with injuries at the Mission Hospital in Asheville.
According to his wife Angela’s statement, the tree had come out of nowhere, while they were inside their SUV. They were out on a family trip to celebrate Skudin’s birthday and father’s day. The firefighter was turning 45 this month.
She said on her Instagram post: “It landed right on the car, right on Casey. Everybody was knocked out except me. And I just got through the window, got over to him…his hands were blue. I held them and I kissed him and just told him the truth that he was the best husband and best father and that it was OK for him to let go. And I slid his wedding ring off his finger and put it on mine,”
She referred to Skudin as “my Rock, my partner of 20 years. Our family will be healing for eternity,” and ended the post with a broken heart emoji.
