Carlo Ponti Sr is the late ex-husband of Italian actress, Sophia Loren, born Sofia Costanza Brigida Villani Scicolone.
The duo met in 1950 when Sophia Loren was 15 years old and Carlo Ponti 37 years. At the time, Carlo Ponti had not divorced his ex-wife but they were separated. Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti married by proxy in Mexico on 17 September 1957.
They annulled their marriage in 1962 to avoid bigamy charges. Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti remarried on 9 April 1966, after their french citizenship was finally approved. They were blessed with two sons, called Edoardo Ponti, and Carlo Ponti Jr. Carlo Ponti was born on 29 December 1968, and Edoardo Ponti was born on 6 January 1973.
Edoardo Ponti is now an Italian director and the younger son of actress Sophia Loren and producer Carlo Ponti Sr. He is married to Sasha Alexander with two kids called Lucia Sofia Ponti, and Leonardo Fortunato Ponti.
Carlo Ponti Jr. is also an Italian orchestral conductor working in the United States. He is married to Andrea Meszaros Ponti.
