Jenkins left the District Attorney’s Office in October 2021 due to growing frustration with its strategy. She prosecuted almost 25 criminal jury trials at the time of her resignation, and she had finished over 100 preliminary hearings.
She worked for years as a private attorney in the Bay Area and Atlanta before joining the San Francisco District Attorney’s office. To support the recall effort against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, she announced her resignation in October 2021.
On July 7, 2022, Mayor London Breed announced that Jenkins would take over for Chesa Boudin to complete the remainder of his tenure. On July 8, she took the oath of office.
