From Italy to France, Germany, Turkey and the United States, Brad Wanamaker has played in different professional basketball leagues and has managed to make a name for himself in almost all of them, although he doesn’t never lasted more than two seasons. He is now playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Boston Celtics after being awarded a one-year contract in July 2018. Here is everything to know about him.
Who is Brad Wanamaker?
Brad was born Bradley Daniel Wanamaker on July 25, 1989, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised alongside his twin brother Brian Wanamaker, who was born 71 minutes before him and is also a basketball player who plays for BC Vytis in the National Basketball League.
Born into the family of Brad Wanamaker, Sr. and Deborah Samuel, junior Brad has 3 other siblings apart from his twin. Ever since he was a kid, the Celtics man has played on streetball courts with his dad and brother. They played almost every court in Philadelphia while continuing to practice.
For his education, Wanamaker attended RomanCatholic High School from where he moved to the University of Pittsburgh while Brian moved to Central Connecticut State University before transferring to Lon Morris College. Back when he was playing for his high school, Brad was named Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Daily News as a high school senior. More so, along with his brother, they helped the high school team to a 29-3 record while also securing a top 20 spot in the national rankings.
One more interesting thing about the two brothers aside from playing high school together is that even though they weren’t both attending the same college, they made stops in Italy, France, Germany and Turkey so that they played the sports they grew up in.
Although he had a pretty good college career, he couldn’t be drafted in the 2011 NBA draft. Even after that, he became only the second player in program history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 400 assists fewer. This saw him start his career in Italy where he played for Banca Teramo Basket and Fulgor Libertas Forli from 2011 to 2012. He was soon back in the United States where he played in the NBA G League for the Austin Spurs in 2012.
France’s top league, LNB Pro A, became his next destination after signing for CSP Limoges with whom he played from 2012 to 2013. The coming years saw him play for Giorgio Tesi Pistoia in Turkey, Brose Baskets in Germany, Darüşşafaka SK in Turkey and Fenerbahçe Basketball. In 2018, he got a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics.
Other statistics
Looking back at his college career which spanned from 2007 to 2011, Brad Wanamaker played in 134 games starting at 68. Averaging 8.1 points per game, he averaged 0.2 blocks, 1.0 steals , 3.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds.

For the Celtics, Wanamaker has yet to get ahead of the start of the 2018/2019 NBA season. Even though it has been a long walk for him to the NBA, there is no denying the fact that he has been a very fantastic player since he was undrafted and even before.
Having played in different leagues, Brad has recorded a few achievements including becoming Turkish League champion in 2018 while also becoming the league finals MVP, two-time German BBL champion and French Super Cup winner. Besides that, he was also the German MVP of the BBL Finals of 2015 and 2016.
Height and width
Like most other stars you’ll find in the NBA or even playing basketball elsewhere, Wanamaker is a man with a good body. Standing at a height of 6 feet 3 inches (1.93 m), he has a body weight of 210 lb (95 kg). There is no record provided for his general body measurements, although from his appearance it is evident that he has an athletic body and is well-measured for any basketball player.
Among other things, his good bodywork complemented his talent and helped him become the type of player he is.
