Blanca Blanco was born on January 22, 1981, in Watsonville, California where she was raised by parents along with her siblings. As a child, Blanco’s parents had to work multiple jobs in order to support their children while encouraging them to pursue the performing arts.
With this encouragement, Blanco, from an earlyage, acquired an interest in singing and acting. When her parents could see that she had a considerable amount of talent, they enrolled her in acting and singing lessons where she was able to further her natural talent. Blanco continued to show her passion for the arts as she was able to hold theatrical performances with her siblings. She later took the next step to join the improv and sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings, as well as a group formed by actor Gordon Hunt, The Gordon Hunt Group, through which she grew up. produced in several stage productions.
By the time Blanco graduated from high school, she gained admission to study psychology at Washington State University, which prompted her to end her acting ambitions. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science, she enrolled at Eastern Washington University where she earned a Masters in Social Work. She then found work as a counselor for hospice patients before later returning to her first love, acting.
Blanca Blanco made her acting debut in the independent film The Last Chicana (2010) before appearing in a number of other independent shorts, which she co-produced. In 2011, she starred as Mrs. Von Brausen in the parody sequel to the movie Showgirls, titled Showgirls 2: Penny’s from Heaven
In the years to come, Blanco appeared in Defending Santa (2013), Awake (2013), Bullet (2014) opposite actor Danny Trejo, Bermuda Tentacles (2014), and American Romance (2016). Between 2016 and 2018, she appeared in three films which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in each of those years; Teen Star Academy (2016), 6 Children and 1 Grandfather (2017), and Mission Possible (2018). She was at that time, 2016 to be exact, also honored with the Arido Award for her contribution to the film industry.
Family
Not much is known about BlancaBlanco’s family other than the fact that she has four siblings; two brothers and two sisters, and that his parents are Mexican immigrants to the United States. Like most other immigrant families, Blanco didn’t have it all as a child as his parents had to work multiple jobs to put food on the table and support their children, which gave them a better opportunity to make a better life for himself, as Blanco seems to have managed to do.
Relationship with John Savage
Blanca Blanco has had a long-term relationship with actor John Savage, who is best known for his roles as Donald Lydecker in the television series Dark Angel (2000-2001) and in the films The Deer Hunter (1978), The Field Onion (1979), and Hair (1979). Prior to his relationship with Blanco, Savage was married twice; first to Susan Youngs with whom he had two children, from 1967 to 1969, then to Sandi Schultz from 1993 to 2003.
It’s unclear exactly when Blanco and Savagese first met as it’s been reported that the two, along with actors Sally Kirkland and Bruce Glover, all trained together. The pair officially began dating in 2008, prompting them to be dubbed Beauty and the Beast by the media, a nod to Savage’s role as the Beast in the 1987 version of the film. Savage and Blanco have since been an item, working together in a number of movies, including Awakened, Bullet, and Bermuda Tentacles among others.
In 2018, the Malibu home of Blanco and Savage was among 1,643 structures destroyed in the Woolsey Fire.
