Renowned oboe Blair Tindall was not always interested in the oboe musical instrument, she actually loved the piano which she started playing from an early age. His switch to oboe came during his high school band performance when all the instrumentalists were asked to take turns picking up a musical instrument one by one according to the alphabetical order of their surnames. Due to the first letter of her name, Tindall was one of the last to be chosen and the only options available were oboe and bassoon. She eventually chose the oboe and since then she hasn’t stopped playing.
Who is Blair Tindall ?
The famous oboist was born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on February 2, 1960 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We currently do not have enough information about his family background, but we were able to identify his parents as Blossom Tindall, mother and George Brown Tindall, father.
Tindall was already good with the piano at a very young age, but she took up oboe when she became a member of her high school band. Her secondary education was completed at the North Carolina School of the Arts, she continued her studies at the Manhattan School of Music where she obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She attended Stanford University on a full-tuition scholarship, earning a master’s degree in communications. Tindall was also at Columbia University.
Professionally, aside from playing the oboe, Blair Tindall is known as a journalist, performer, writer, teacher, speaker and producer. As a tutor, she was on the academic staff at Stanford University where she taught journalism. She has also taught oboe at Mills College and the University of California. As a writer, she published her controversial book titled Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs and Classical Music– a memoir that recounts his experiences in the world of classical music. She has also written quality classical music content for popular publications like the Contra Costa Times, New York Times, San Francisco Examiner, International Herald Tribune, and Los Angeles Times. Tindall has also performed in several concerts and ceremonies and has worked on the soundtrack for several television productions.
Her parents and her husband
Tindall’s father has been identified as George BlairTindall who made his living as a historian and his mother’s name is Blossom Tindall. There is not enough data about his parents and siblings – if any, but information abounds about the artist’s relationship history.
Tindall enjoyed marital bliss for seven weeks. On February 3, 2006, she tied the nuptial knot with television personality Bill Nye. The wedding ceremony went off in style, the wedding which took place at the Entertainment Gathering at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles was officiated by Rick Warren and the music was provided by Yo-Yo Ma. The relationship got messy after just seven weeks when their marriage license was declared null and void. Nye immediately ditched the marriage with a restraining order filed against Blair Tindall.
Tindall happened to violate the court order when she gained illegal access to Nye’s residence to dump two bottles of weed killer on the flowers in her garden. When brought to trial, Tindall pleaded guilty to the offence, calling the unfortunate incident “a stupid, sophomoric act of bad judgment that was only intended to harm the flowers and not any human being.” She also said that watching Nye during an episode of Live with Edinwith his insinuating comments about how life would have been if only he had the right woman by his side prompted her to commit the offence. Eventually, she was ordered to pay $57,000 to cover legal fees incurred by Nye, but she has refused to honor that court order to this day.
