Andre Harrell Worth $22 Million

[divider]Andre Harrell spent his childhood in The Bronx. He went to Lehman College, which he left to start pursuing his career in the entertainment industry. Thus, Harrell’s career began in the 1970 s, when he was still in his teens, meeting up with Alonzo Brown, with whom he started a rap duo under the name Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The duo released several songs, and hit the charts with singles such as “Fast Life”, “Genius Rap”, and “AMPM”; however, Harrell decided to leave music for a while, and concentrate on education.

For a short time he worked at a local radio station, but soon he met Russell Simmons, who is the founder of the Deff Jam Records, and received an offer to work for the record house which Andre accepted, and slowly started to build his career and his net worth as well. Before 1985, he became the vice-president and general manager of Def Jam; however, shortly afterwards he quit his job, and started his own record label, entitled Uptown Records. Among the first artists that he brought to the new company were Sean “Puffy” Combs and Mary J. Blige , who helped to increase his net worth by a large degree, thanks to the popularity of the artists.

Six years after the inception of Uptown Records, Harrell signed a deal with the MCA Music Entertainment Group, and his record house became Uptown Entertainment. His career didn’t stop there, as he became the CEO of the Motown Records in 1995, and has also started another record house, Harrell Records. Additionally he works as a radio host on 98.7 Kiss FM, hosting “Champagne & Bubbles”, which airs on Sunday nights. Furthermore, Andre serves as vice chairman of the music network “Revolt”, which is owned by rapper P. Diddy, adding further to his net worth.

When it comes to his personal life, Andre Harrell is married to dancer Laurieann Gibson, with whom he has a son; the couple currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
