Amy Word, a famous restauranteur from Evansville, Indiana and a school board member at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, EVSC, has been arrested by the Evansville Police on Saturday.
The police department listed Word’s charge as controlled substance-common nuisance-maintaining, and it is not clear why she has been arrested in the first place.
Mrs. Word is a mother of three; Isabelle, Andrew, and Cecilia, two of whom graduated from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, and one is still studying at school.

Amy Word is a school board member at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, EVSC in Evansville, Indiana who was arrested on the early morning of Saturday, July 30. The exact reasons for her arrest have not yet been made public.
The 47-year-old’s charge is listed as controlled substance-common nuisance-maintaining. She is currently being held at Vanderburgh County Jail and no further comment about her arrest has been released by the Evansville Police Department.
Amy, a famous restauranteur from Evansville, was elected to the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation board in 2020. She was a frontrunner for the post and won one of the two seats for district 3 by about 5000 votes.
Word had maintained a very respectable and reputed image in Evansville up until now. She was, in fact, a favorite potential mayoral candidate according to Courier & Press.

Word studied at Indiana University Bloomington and got a Bachelor of Science (BS), Biology, General in 1995. She also got a BS in Education from the University of Southern Indiana. She later got a Master’s degree, MALS from the same university in 2002.
The Indiana native started her big project in the restaurant line as an owner of Lamasco Bar and Grill in 2009. She was also the owner of The Dapper Pig in Evansville. Later, she founded Franklin Street Events Association and serves as its president.
Recently, in 2019, Word opened Amy’s on Franklin, a lavish, high-end restaurant and bar in West Franklin, Evansville. It is famous for its purple exterior and foods influenced by French Quarter, Mexico, and Texas.

Till now, the jail sentence for Amy Word has not been announced as no reason for her arrest is made public. The police are yet to release a statement regarding the arrest of Evansville’s famous restauranteur.
