Bongino was born as Daniel John Bongino on December 4th, 1974 in Queens, New York City. Not much is known about his parents apart from the information that they got divorced when Bongino was a very young boy.

He went on to live with his biological mother and step-father, who was a boxer. It has been known that Bongino’s step-father used to abuse him and his younger brother on a daily basis.

It was only later that he and his brother managed to escape the abusive relationship with the help of their biological father. It is said that the abuse that he suffered may have given him the motivation to work with the NYPD.

Bongino went to Archbishop Molly High School and later graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology. He later finished his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.
