Allen is the son of an auction dealer. Growing up with his father as an idol, it wasn’t long before long he started copying what his father was doing. Nevertheless, he tried on his own, buying and selling antiques through eBay. This enterprise was quite fruitful as Allen put himself through college thanks to the success of his business. Gradually his profit was becoming larger and he opened his first antique store in Houston, Texas, before he moved to Los Angeles, California, where Allen continued his business, searching for antique and valuable objects in general in Los Angeles stores, warehouses and other facilities.

Then in 2003 a new chance came Allen’s way, when he became co-host of the show “Clean House”, thanks to his knowledge of antiques and also thanks to his degree in journalism. He continued with a career on-screen, featuring in the TV show “My House is Worth What” on HGTV, in which he helped to determine the value of the house.

His selling business continued to grow, and he even diversified into Hollywood memorabilia, starting the Hollywood & Vintage company, that specialized in movie memorabilia and collectable items on the Hollywood scene. Then in 2010 luck smiled upon him when the producers from Spike TV decided to cast him as the host of the new reality TV series “Auction Hunters”, in which, Allen and his colleague Clinton ‘Ton’ Jones travel across USA in search of abandoned storage lots, identifying items of interest and net worth.
