Just a few days before learning the excellent news about The Mayor, he and his girlfriend, Amber, had been kicked out of their residence.
When the couple tried to scrape together the money, they went to the local housing court and filed for a stay of eviction. The court offered them ten days to do so. He received word that “The Mayer” had been picked up two days later.
Amber and he had the resources to purchase her a ticket to return to Texas. The plan, according to Marcel, was for Amber to remain at home while he found them housing in Los Angeles.
Unexpectedly, he received a second call from his agency informing him that a play for which Marcel had submitted an audition in April had been cast. If Marcel agreed, they would fly him to La Jolla, California, at the end of May, where he would work the remainder of the summer until the end of July.
From having no job, very little money, and no place to stay, Marcel suddenly had two jobs, one of which would offer him an apartment for the duration of the summer, and the other would give him money to move from NYC to L.A.

Marcel has been fortunate to have both, which is something that many actors believe is essential for a successful on-screen career. He has extensive theater expertise and has worked with several renowned theater groups, including the Guthrie in Minneapolis & the Old Globe in San Diego.
