Whitney Peak Was Raised By Her Mother Sammy Peak
Whitney was born on January 28, 2003, as Whitney Stuart Peak by her mother, Sammy Peak, in Uganda’s capital city of Kampala. Peak is the youngest of four siblings to a Ugandan hairdresser and a Canadian helicopter pilot and engineer.
In Kampala, Uganda, her family was close-knit, and most of her relatives lived in the same area. During the summer break, she frequently visited the salon run by her mother and aunts to assist and complete the braiding of customers’ hair.
She attended boarding school and competed in swimming. Her family divided their time between Canada and Dubai, where her father had a job, and she trained with a former Olympian from Sudan.

Peak abandoned the pool after her family moved to Port Coquitlam, a tiny town close to Vancouver, in 2012, when she was nine.
