Nathan Eovaldi Wikipedia
Eovaldi’s powerful four-seam fastball, which he throws at rates that often surpass 100 miles per hour, is his most well-known pitch as a starter. Despite having a high-velocity fastball, Eovaldi has not collected the high strikeout totals associated with other hard-throwing right-handers like Jacob DeGrom and Justin Verlander during most of his career.
He was the only pitcher in 2021 to throw five different pitches at a rate of 10% or more. Rather than relying solely on a combination of strong fastballs in the strike zone and sliders have thrown out of the zone to overpower his opponents, Eovaldi uses all five of his pitches to induce weak swings that end in ground balls or popups.
