Who Are Mike Harvick and JoNell Harvick? NASCAR Racer Kevin Harvick Parents Details

Kevin Harvick, better known as “The Closer” or “Happy Harvick,” is a professional American stock car racing driver.

In 1992, Kevin started his NASCAR career. He participates in the NASCAR Cup Series full-time, driving the No. 4 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. In addition to winning the 2001, 2006, and 2007 Xfinity Series and the 2007 Daytona 500, Kevin is the 2014 Cup Series champion. He now owns the Cup Series victory record at Phoenix Raceway with nine victories.

Currently, Harvick is third all-time in NASCAR history with 121 total national series victories, while he is tenth with 60 Cup victories.

He is the fifth of only 36 drivers to win in each of NASCAR’s three national series, and he is the third of just six drivers to have won championships in both the Cup Series and the Xfinity Series. Moreover, he was the previous owner of the racing team “Kevin Harvick Incorporated,” which ran automobiles in the Truck Series from 2001 to 2011 and the Xfinity Series from 2004 to 2011.

Who Are Kevin Harvick’s Parents?

Mike Harvick and JoNell (Walker) Harvick gave birth to Kevin in Bakersfield, California, in 1975.

Since Mike and JoNell are living a retired life, not much information is revealed about their personal life. As a result, their age and Instagram account are unavailable.

Nonetheless, his father used to serve as the chief crew for a neighborhood racing team. He eventually succeeded in making a living from his work as a firefighter. Meanwhile, his mother was a housekeeper. But Mark’s firefighter pay was insufficient to support the family and his son’s racing. So, to cut costs, he worked as a mechanic part-time.

Kevin has a younger sister named Amber.

Rick Mears, an IndyCar driver, and fellow Bakersfield native was a hero to Harvick growing up, and the two of them raced go-karts together. Seven national titles and two Grand National titles were among Kevin’s many accomplishments on the go-kart racing circuit.

Kevin’s father had to decide between selling his beloved 1955 Chevrolet, which he wanted to rebuild, or investing in his son’s career. Hence, he sold the Chevrolet and built a new racing car after working for a year to save up the necessary funds and parts. Fortunately for the Harvick family, their efforts have paid off because he consistently ranks among the best drivers in NASCAR.

Kevin Harvick Wife DeLana Lynn And Family

Not long after making his Cup Series debut, Harvick wedded DeLana Lynn Harvick on February 28, 2001.

She had met him the year before at Michigan International Speedway, where she was doing publicity for Randy LaJoie, another racer. DeLana had previously worked with Jeff Gordon in a comparable role and had even tried her hand at racing.

She co-owns and works for KHI Management LLC, is an active member of Harvick’s team, and frequently appears on his pit box during Cup races. The couple’s children, Piper Harvick, born on December 28, 2017, and Keelan, born on July 8, 2012, all reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His son also competes in kart racing. In fact, he raced alongside his dad in the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series in April 2021. Moreover, the whole family enjoys playing golf, being outside, and going to athletic events.

Kevin Harvick Charity

Aside from racing, Kevin Harvick is a committed philanthropist who has been engaging in charitable work, since the start of his career.

The “Kevin Harvick Foundation” was established by him and his wife in 2010 to provide funding for initiatives that improve the lives of kids around the country. “The Kevin Harvick Youth Development Park” in Greensboro, North Carolina, was built with funding provided by the Kevin Harvick Foundation.

The foundation has also helped the construction of multipurpose sports complexes for “Boys & Girls Clubs” around the nation.

In 2016, the Kevin Harvick Foundation built a second youth development park in Bakersfield, the hometown of Harvick. The Jake Owen Field, the third park created in collaboration with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, was built in Vero Beach, Florida. Each park, which is situated in a disadvantaged neighborhood, has an outdoor synthetic surface field that can be used for sports including soccer, baseball, flag football, and lacrosse.
