What Happened to Evathefreakindiva’s Father Doug Benefield?
Her father was murdered by her stepmother Ashley in September 2020. She was arrested for shooting Doug over a custody battle over their daughter.
Ashley had claimed that he had attacked her before she shot him, but later detective didn’t find any evidence of physical abuse. The pair had been separated, so Ashley was staying with her mother. When the shooting took place, only two of them were inside her house.
She shot Doug four times with a 45-caliber handgun. The two bullets hit Doug while the other two were found shot in the wall. It is speculated from the investigation that he was not facing Ashley when she started shooting. There was no sign of struggle as she claimed she was physically abused apart from a small scratch.
Ashley had filed a domestic violence case against her husband about two years ago when she realized she was pregnant. She had even tried to file an injunction to keep Doug away from their daughter, but the case judge found no truth in her story.
When the judge allowed Doug to meet his daughter, Ashley had no other way to keep him away from the child. Doug was shot once in a leg; another had grazed his right arm and entered his chest.
After investigating the case, no evidence backed up her claim, so the investigators issued an arrest warrant. She was charged with second-degree murder.
Now Ashley is being held accountable for her actions.
