The couple came into the limelight two years ago after their daughter Azaylia Diamond Cain was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia at just eight weeks old.
Ex-footballer Ashley Cain told ITV that the news of his daughter’s diagnosis was his life’s toughest and most emotional moment.
They documented the journey of their daughter’s recovery and ran a crowdfunding for the treatment.
Ashley and Safiyya raised over £1.5 million for their daughter’s special treatment in Singapore.
Doctors performed a successful bone marrow transplant. However, Azaylia’s leukemia rapidly multiplied, and she went into a full relapse.
The doctor informed the couple that chemotherapy was not enough to save their daughter.
Ashley and Saffiya made a plea in November 2020 for a stem cell donor for their daughter’s transplant. The campaign led to 41,000 applications within two days.
Sadly, despite all the efforts, Azaylia passed away on 24 April 2021 at eight months old.

In March 2022, Ashley Cain and his wife, Saffiyya Vorajee, announced their separation less than a year after their 8-month-old daughter Azaylia succumbed to leukemia.
The couple released a joint statement addressing the situation, saying they needed to keep the news to themselves for some time to figure out the future.
Despite the separation, Ashley and Saffiyya remain closest friends, spending time together.
The statement also read that the ex-couple is bonded by their powerful journey together and by their eternal love for their daughter, Azaylea.
In May 2021, Ashley and Saffiyya announced that they were starting a charity in Azaylea’s name to fight childhood cancer.
The couple still works together to help the families of other children suffering from cancer.
Ashley started a campaign in which he ran a 100-mile ultra marathon and completed five marathons across five capital cities in five days.
He also cycled 1800 miles across Europe and 200 miles on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to raise money for children with cancer.
