Zach Choi Wiki Bio
Zach Choi was born in Seoul, South Korea, on 27 August 1986 – his zodiac sign is Virgo and he holds both South Korean and American nationality. He is a YouTuber and a social media star, perhaps known best for his YouTube channel “Zach Choi ASMR”, onto which he uploads videos of himself eating large quantities of various foods (known as mukbang) while also being autonomous sensory meridian responsive (ASMR) – described as a relaxing sensation which one can feel after hearing whispers and crackles as well as seeing peaceful sights.
Zach doesn’t talk at all in his videos, which is why some people believe him to be mute.
Childhood and education
Zach was raised in Baltimore, Maryland USA an only child, by his adoptive South Korean mother who was a model, and his adoptive American father who was a singer and a businessman.
Zach’s adoptive mother is a great cook, which is one of the reasons why he became interested in tasting various foods and cuisines at a very early age, while his mother always dosed his food so that he wouldn’t gain weight.
He attended a local high school at which he played soccer and basketball, and was also interested in acting, appearing in several plays performed at the school. After he matriculated in 2004, Zach and his family moved to Los Angeles in California where he has been living to this day – he hasn’t attended college.
Career as a social media star and a YouTuber
It’s unclear what Zach did after school, as he didn’t launch his YouTube channel until 5 July 2014; it’s today subscribed to by over 10 million people, while he has gathered more than 1.6 billion views of all his videos combined.
Zach has uploaded numerous videos onto his channel, while his two most popular ones are “MOST POPULAR FOOD FOR ASMR with STEPHANIE SOO (Honeycomb, Aloe Vera, Tanghulu, Macarons)” which has been viewed over 68 million times since 24 May 2019, and “MOST POPULAR FOOD FOR ASMR (KFC, ONION RINGS, MOZZARELLA CORN DOG, CHICKEN NUGGETS) NO TALKING” which has been watched close to 42 million times since 23 February 2019.
Zach is also active on Instagram, and has more than 900,000 followers, while he has uploaded close to 200 pictures, most of which feature him eating.
He launched his Twitter account in November 2012, and has since gathered over 13,000 followers, while his Facebook account has more than 310,000 followers. Zach is also quite active on TikTok, and is followed by more than 220,000 people, while he has gathered over 1.4 million likes of all his videos and pictures combined.
Controversy concerning Stephanie Soo and Nikocado Avocado (Nicholas Perry)
Stephanie Soo and Nikocado Avocado are two YouTubers who also upload mukbang videos, and Zach has on multiple occasions collaborated with them, however, Stephanie claimed that Nikocado makes her feel uncomfortable, and is deliberately sabotaging her videos – she uploaded a video onto YouTube in which she talks about being threatened by Nikocado, and that he took pictures of her in her bathtub even though she didn’t agree with it.
Zach wasn’t pulled into the drama until Nikocado revealed Zach’s messages in which he talks about how Nikocado should leave Stephanie alone – as Zach didn’t give permission for his personal messages to be revealed, both he and Stephanie have hired lawyers to sue Nikocado.
Love life and girlfriend
Zach is quite secretive when it comes to his love life, and hasn’t talked about any girls he might have dated since the launch of his career, which is one of the reasons why there are rumors circulating the internet claiming that Zach is gay – two of his fans have even claimed on the website Reddit to have seen Zach being rather too close to a male friend, but the posts have since been deleted.
There are also those who believe that Zach is asexual and entirely disinterested in having a partner or taking part in sexual activities, however, one of Zach’s closest friends has hinted that he might be romantically linked to a girl he has recently met on the internet, and that they are dating but haven’t yet met as they live in different states.
As he hasn’t commented on any of the rumors, Zach is single as of October 2020, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

A few of Zach’s favorite foods are Hot Cheetos, Chicken and Mozzarella Corn Dogs, while his favorite beverage is Sprite, which he drinks in every single of his YouTube videos.
