The Bravados Movie Plot
In the movie, we see Jim Douglas searching for men who murdered his wife in their home.
In his search, he arrives at Rio Arriba where he finds the men he was looking for in prison to be hanged the next day for a different murder.
To see them hanged, he stays in the town. There he meets his old love Josefa from five years prior. Jim gets to know that she was looking after her father’s ranch and is not married.
Douglas tells he was married and is now a widower and also has a daughter.
At the time of execution, the executioner stabs the sheriff while pretending to check the criminals. The sheriff in defense shoots and kills him but the criminals run taking a young woman as a hostage along with them.
On his way, he finds the real executioner perished. Knowing a man is behind their tail, Parral is assigned to ambush Jim but is instead killed by him.
Before killing, Jim shows the photo of his wife, but Parral doesn’t recognize her. Taylor also hangs back to stop Douglas, but he is hanged upside-down from a tree and killed.
The remaining fugitives and hostage reach John Butler’s house but he tries to escape from them. Zachary kills him and Lujan finds a sack of coins among Butler’s belonging which he hides for himself.
After crossing Mexico, he finds Zachary in a bar. He asks him if he knows his wife but gets a negative answer.
Both bring out their guns, and Zachary is gunned down. Jim goes after Lujan and finds him with his family.
He shows the photo of his wife to him and he also denies seeing his wife. Jim then points to the sack of coins and tells him whoever killed his wife stole the sack.
Lujan tells him that the coin was ransacked from John Butler’s body which makes Douglas realize he has wrongfully evicted the bravados. Feeling remorse, he returns to town and asks forgiveness from the church priest.
Though the priest cannot accept his action, he respects his courage for not making excuses. He is later applauded by the town for his bravery in upholding justice.
