The high court was going to release its decision on Nazrin Hassan’s murder case. His widowed wife Samirah Muzaffar and two stepsons were accused of murder, but the high court has acquitted them of the allegations.
The CEO of Cradle died when his house caught fire in 2018. It was first said to be a death from an accidental fire, but forensics found unnatural scenarios and wounds on his body, making the case a murder. And the primary suspects were Samirah Muzaffar and her two sons.
Where Is Samirah Muzaffar Today?
Samirah Muzaffar and two teens are accused of killing her husband, Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan, four years ago.
The trio is suspected of killing someone on June 14, 2018, in a house in Mutiara Damansara, Selangor, attempting to cover it up by setting it on fire. However, all of them pleaded not guilty.
Although the initial investigation said that he died of a mobile phone explosion, four months later, a second autopsy showed that his death was caused because of a blunt force to his head. Likewise, the fire was also set up to cover up the murder because of various unnatural circumstances.
For instance. the victim’s bedroom was locked from the outside as if someone wanted to lock him in. There were irregular burn patterns in the room. There were bags of fireworks in the room as well.
The HIgh court was set to give a verdict on the case today, and there was a possibility for the widow and two teenagers to be sentenced if the prosecution could build a prima facie case against them.
However, the High Court acquitted Samirah Muzaffar and two teens on the charge of murdering former Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan. The court decided that the prosecution had failed to build a prima facie case against them, said Judge Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman.
