Where is Jae Head now? Age, Height, Net Worth – Biography

Known for movies

Short Info

Net Worth $2 million

Jae Head is an American actor, who rose to prominence through his portrayal of Sean Junior – or SJ – in the John Lee Hancock movie “The Blind Side,” released in 2009.

Early Life and Family

Jae Head was born under the sign of Capricorn on 27 December 1996, in Hamlin, Texas USA, to parents Jo Head, a Teacher, and Jeffrey Head, a football and basketball coach. He and his brother Jansen Head were raised in Hamlin, but moved to Hill Country town of Goldthwaite, Texas in 2006.

His parents considered him as a living, breathing miracle, having survived open-heart surgery at a very young age. He was born missing an aorta, that is needed to distribute oxygenated blood to the rest of his body.

The doctors told his parents that Baby Jae had a 25% chance of living after his birth. Apparently, the pregnant Mrs Head was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, HELLP syndrome, a month before giving birth. It caused her to experience blurred vision and high blood pressure. She was rushed to a bigger hospital in Abilene as it was a complicated delivery. Baby Jae had a hard time drinking milk and the doctors recommended that he be brought to a Dallas hospital for further examination. Only then did they all discover that he had no aorta, so he had several open-heart operations – doctors through modern technology were able to construct his aorta by combining tissues from cadavers with his own pulmonary vein.

His parents didn’t want to discuss Jae’s life expectancy as they don’t want to count the days or dread a deadline, but they banked on new heart procedures in the future that would help in prolonging Jae’s life. Luckily, everything seems to be okay with Jae since his last surgery.

This young survivor at second grade would often come home frustrated that he couldn’t keep up with his classmates, and he couldn’t do things the other kids were doing. There was one thing though that he enjoyed doing, and that was donning superhero costumes. He played around as these characters, and his mom created costumes from ordinary materials such as tin foils and cardboard from old or used boxes.

Growing up, he was never intimidated when talking to adults like other regular young kids, as he often talked to them when he was in hospital.

His father was eager to find an activity that would make his elder child happy. When he heard of a talent scouting ad from the radio looking for a child actor in Waco, Jeffrey immediately made a four-hour drive to the city with his sons to try it out. Both of his sons made the cut, but Jansen wasn’t interested in acting and so Jeffrey focused on Jae. Jeffrey brought his eldest son to Los Angeles to participate in many auditions, and Jae nailed some, and was considered for many roles as he was a natural.

Education

Jae matriculated from Goldthwaite High School, Texas in 2015.

Career

First Step

Jae started his acting career when he was nine years old in 2005, given a minor role in the television series “How I Met Your Mother”, with Josh Radnor and Neil Patrick Harris.  He only had a one-liner, but people noticed how he had this mature voice coming from a small young body. It led to a series of minor roles, including appearing in an episode on “Mad TV” in Season 11. and was Little Chuck in the television feature film “The Angriest Man in Suburbia,” released in 2006.

Jae also appeared as Bo Miller in four episodes of “Friday Night Lights,” a popular sports drama TV series that was loosely based on a novel with the same name, and had a 2004 movie version also directed by Peter Berg. A year later, he was seen in an episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” with Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni; he played the role of Christopher Ryan, a foster child who was a witness to a serial rapist case that turned out to be his own foster father.

Further Success

His notable acting led director Peter Berg to cast him in his debut movie, “Hancock,” with Will Smith in the titular role, which eventually had gross earnings of around $625 million worldwide.

Back in his hometown, Jae became a star, signing autographs for fans during the movie premiere.

It 2009, Jae took part in the movie, “The Blind Side,” with Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron, an inspiring biopic of the former American Footballer Michael Oher, and a movie adaptation of the novel, “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game,” written by Michael Lewis. The movie was about Michael, a homeless African-American high school student, who was adopted by the white, rich Tuohy family who helped him to become a successful NFL football player.

Jae played the role of SJ Tuohy, who was Michael’s adoptive younger brother and friend. Jae made a mark with this movie and became a celebrity. It had the gross earnings of over $300 million, and had several nominations including Best Picture from the Academy Awards and Golden Globe. Sandra Bullock won the Best Actress Award from major award‑giving bodies.

After being in a successful movie, he still focused on his studies, and only went back to do movies in 2013 when he accepted a voice acting job in “Robosapien: Rebooted.” He was seen again on the big screen after his high school graduation in 2015, taking the role of Tony in “Bravetown,” an independent musical movie with Lucas Till and Josh Duhamel, released in limited theaters.

In 2017, he was in one of the official movie entries in the Los Angeles Film Festival, “The Bachelors,” which stars J.K. Simmons, Julie Delphy and Harold Perrineau. Jae was last seen in the movies, “Homeless Henry, Through the Tears” and “Depraved” both released in 2018.

Aside from being an actor, since September 2019 he has been a motivational speaker. He encourages people to fight for their dreams as he has been fighting all his life and being successful at it.

Personal Life

Jae is single and there’s no news of him being engaged to anyone. He is residing in Los Angeles, California and has been keeping himself sharp by doing monologues during the quarantine period of the pandemic caused by Covid19 virus.

  • A major role was rejected by Jae after “The Blind Side,” a movie which would make him swim with dolphins not because he’s afraid of them, but because he would rather play football in his high school, just as his father, uncles and grandfather did in the past. His younger brother, Jansen, who was 6ft tall and weighed a lot heavier, was on the same team as well.
