Chances of finding a prominent Florida cancer researcher and doctor who has been lost in the Gulf of Mexico for over a week are dwindling.
On August 10, Dr. Chaundre Cross, 49, and his 33-foot boat Vitamin Sea was last seen leaving Naples Bay Marina, as per authorities.
The following day, 16 miles south of Sanibel Island, off the coast of Fort Myers, the Coast Guard reported in a statement that they discovered Dr. Cross’s boat floating in the sea.

Days have passed since Dr. Cross vanished. On his boat, he was spotted leaving Naples Bay & Marina. Though his ship was recovered the next day, the doctor was nowhere to be found.
Hope of his survival has been decreased, and it’s unclear if Cross is still alive or dead because no sign of his body has been found, making it impossible to declare him dead.
Reportedly, the doctor was not found after a two-and-a-half day search of over 13,000 square miles of ocean, which included hiring a Jayhawk helicopter, Hercules fixed-wing aircraft, two police boats, and a “fleet of private vessels” was called off on Sunday (August 14).
Captain Michael Kahle of the St. Petersburg Coast Guard noted that halting a search and rescue operation “is never easy.”
“We send our sincere sympathy and condolences to Dr. Cross’s family and friends during this trying time.”

Missing Florida Doctor Wife Sarah Jo Cross Filed For Divorce The day He Disappeared
On the day he vanished, reports said that Dr. Cross’s wife, Sarah Jo Cross, filed for divorce in the Collier County Court.
Basically, his wife is a Naples, Florida native who attended Waverly-Shell Rock Senior High. Plus, you can see pictures of her family and her kids with her spouse, Chaundre, on her Facebook page.
Per Independent, Cross is the father of three kids. Meanwhile, in a family photo, he can be seen posing with his wife and five children—four boys, one girl, and a dog.
His stepmother Kathy Cady stated that the “unexpected loss of a family member creates an unimaginable gap” in a statement published on Facebook.
She commended the Coast Guard and law enforcement for making an effort to locate Dr. Cross, who was married with three kids.
“Please send our family your prayers, as well as respect our need for privacy,” Ms. Cady said in her statement during this difficult time.

Chaundre Cross’ Net Worth As Being An Expert In Cancer Treatment
From his 17 years of career as a Radiation Oncologist, Chaundre Cross might have earned a hefty net worth that can be ranged in millions.
Per his LinkedIn profile, Dr. Cross received his medical training at Harvard Medical School. He has worked as a radiation oncologist at GenesisCare Florida and has held national board positions with organizations, including the American Cancer Society.
On the advisory boards of Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer, he also worked as a prostate cancer expert.
In a similar vein, he presided over the Cancer Alliance of Naples board and previously served as a board member for Collier County P.L.A.N. and the American Cancer Society of Naples, Florida.
Due to his knowledge of breast and prostate cancer, he was chief of radiation oncology at the N.C.H. Healthcare system, chairman of the cancer committee, and a guest lecturer.
