Where Is Boris becker Now? Former Tennis Champion Jailed For Fraud

Few sports heroes, and certainly none as young as the German ace, have ever reached the pinnacle of their respective sports.

He joined Wimbledon unseeded in July 1985 at the age of 17 and quickly made a name for himself, winning the championship by a score of four sets over Kevin Curren.

In June of the previous year, Becker had been declared bankrupt due to an outstanding loan of more than £3 million on his Mallorca villa.

Hans-Dieter Cleven, a former business partner, asserted that the former tennis pro owed him more than £30 million, but the allegation was dismissed by a Swiss court.

After being convicted guilty of four crimes related to the Insolvency Act earlier this month, Becker now confronts a new challenge—possibly the most serious one yet.

Boris becker Was Sentenced For Two & A Half Years

Former tennis player Boris Becker was moved to a prison for foreigners, increasing the likelihood that he would be deported.

Plus, the 54-year-old three-time Wimbledon winner is currently being imprisoned at Huntercombe Jail in Oxfordshire after being transferred from Wandsworth in London.

Last month, the former German player-turned-TV analyst was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for defrauding and hiding £2.5 million after being pronounced bankrupt in 2017.

Only foreign criminals who are normally eligible for deportation are housed at Huntercombe, a Category C prison.

Furthermore, he had been imprisoned in Wandsworth, a Category B prison with a higher level of security, in an area designated for “vulnerable prisoners,” such as pedophiles and police officers at risk of being attacked.

Will Boris Becker Be Released Before Christmas?

By being transported back to Germany to complete his sentence, Boris Becker is optimistic that he will be released before Christmas.

In Germany, which has a more lenient penal system than Britain, he feels he would be released on a license much sooner, as per sources.

Besides, he had been sentenced to 15 months in prison but was released halfway through.

Though after seven and a half months, he can be transported to Germany under the government’s Early Removal Scheme.

The Sun reports that Becker is instructing English to international detainees since, despite being a BBC commentator, he needed a translator at his own trial last month.

Boris Becker’s Wife, Lily Becker’s Remark About His Arrest

Following his first visit from his sons in jail today, Boris Becker’s ex-wife, Lily, said he is adjusting to life in prison.

Similarly, the former Wimbledon champion, who is currently serving a 2.5-year term for fraud, was visited by Noah Becker, 28, and his younger brother, Elias Becker, 22, at HMP Huntercombe in Oxfordshire.

Their companion was Lillian De Carvalho Monteiro, the celeb’s girlfriend.

Now that Becker is in prison, his ex-wife Lily has provided some insight into his current situation, stating: “Boris is fine, I am fine. Everyone here is doing good. There is not much else to say except to say that I have been quite busy with my sons. It’s all right.

As she’s been “too busy with my family,” Lily admitted she hasn’t been keeping up with Wimbledon.
