After taking a break from acting in movies and on television, Jeannie Berlin made a comeback in 1990, co-starring in and co-writing the screenplay for the comedy-drama “In the Spirit,” which also starred Olympia Dukakis, Marlo Thomas, and Berlin.
She has participated in a number of off-Broadway productions in the 1990s, displaying her range as an actress. In the play “After the Night and the Music,” written by her mother Elaine May, Berlin made her Broadway debut in 2005.
With Anna Paquin as her co-star in the psychological thriller “Margaret,” Berlin saw a comeback in the movie business in 2011.
She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress by the Boston Society of Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics for her critically acclaimed performance.
