She won a silver medal at the World Swimming Championships 2019 Paralympics and a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympics.

Tupou Neiufi Disability

Tupou Neigi has Impaired muscle power under the classification S9.

In medical terms, Neiufi has Hemiplegiaw where one side of the body is paralyzed due to brain injury.

As a 2-year-old child, Tupo went through a life-changing accident as she was hit by a speeding car.

Her left side is weaker and smaller compared to her right. What’s more complicated is that her brain injury means that she gets tired very quickly.

Tupou’s disability adds another layer of complexity. She has to make sure she works hard to get better but doesn’t work so hard that she is exhausted. Her training must be carefully planned to get the best performance.

Tupou Neiufi Age

Just seven years when she was 18, Tupou got her hands on her first world championship medal – a silver in the S8 100m backstroke – in the first world championship she had ever participated in.

Tupou Neiufi Parents and Family

Tupou Neiufi hast talked to her about her parent’s details, but she has always mentioned her parents and family in every interview.

Tupou is grateful to her family for they have supported her at every decision she made. Her family understood her passion and never hesitated to help her to the path she wanted to pave.

Tupou’s parents couldn’t afford most of her races and traveling expenses but they didn’t nag to Tupou about it. During the hard times, her grandparent stepped up for the budget exceeding expenses.

She believes she couldn’t be in this position without support from her family.
