TikTok: Silly Goose Trend Or Meme?

Silly Goose is one of the many trends on the social media platform TikTok.

Some even use it in the form of a meme. When you relate the idiom, silly goose, with someone, you usually mean that the person is being foolish in some way. It is affectionately said to someone whom you love. If not used within this context, it is condescending.

This trend was popular in February 2021. The TikTok users create content out of stupid things.

Silly Goose Trend – How & Who Started It?

Reportedly Silly Goose Trend started after TikToker, @mrhamilton, created the Silly Goose soundtrack on 20 May 2020.

In his video, Casey Hamilton says, “well, you can go ahead and get in the pond if you’re going to act like a silly goose.” The user was a teacher at Plant City High School before being famous on TikTok. At present, he has 6.3 million followers and over 220 million likes.

After that, in February 2021, another video made on Valentine’s Day about the idiom, Silly Goose, blew on TikTok as a meme.

Kayla Sims wore her date-night dress, filmed her boyfriend’s reaction, and posted the clip on TikTok. The user never expected the sudden popularity of the video, in which her boyfriend, Stephan Monroe, calls her a silly goose.

However, TikTok video became extremely popular, making its way to various meme pages on Instagram and Twitter. This sudden boost in popularity of her creation led to thousands of comments across the couple’s social media.

After that, Sims and Monroe’s Valentine’s day video transformed into the viral meme, Silly Goose, spreading on Tiktok and other social media platforms. At present, the video has over 13.5 million views. Hence, we can say that the couple started the meme.

With the clip came a few positive reactions from the people, but the majority were negative. The couple got a lot of hate comments for it. Nevertheless, we can say that they started the meme.

Sims is a nuclear engineering major who wants to use the gained fame, despite it being negative, to raise awareness on issues. Monroe said that the hurtful remarks affect the content creators and other users.
