The prophecy in Mayfair Witches says that the 13th Mayfair Witches will be a door and vessel to form a human Baby Lasher. Rowan is the 13th Mayfair Witch.
Episode 8 marks the final episode of Season 1 of the most loved supernatural thriller drama series. The episode aired on February 26, 2023, on AMC.
The previous episode (E7) followed the aftermath of Tessa Mayfair’s kidnapping. Rowan wanted clarity concerning an alarming change happening in her body.
She soon realizes she is pregnant. Rowan then seeks out Tessa and discovers she is missing. She feels responsible for Tessa but denies summoning Lasher to find and help her.
Knowing that Rowan is pregnant, Cortland calls his associate, who stops Ciprien from intervening.
Rowan must make a choice; if she makes the right one, it will fulfill an ancient prophecy and mark the start of a new era. However, the superior doesn’t reveal what her choice is or what prophecy will be fulfilled.
What Is The Prophecy In Mayfair Witches?
As per the Prophecy, a new Lasher would be able to form through the 13th Mayfair witch. Rowan is the 13th Mayfair witch, who is the doorway.
Previously Lasher mentioned the prophecy to Suzanne when they first met without explaining the further details. Rowan’s choice and the prophecy are now connected to the family’s history.
Anne Rice’s trilogy states that Lasher was a human being who later became a supernatural entity. He tries to connect with Rowan because only the 13th Mayfair witch will be able to free him.
When Lasher rescued Suzanne, the first Mayfair witch, from the King’s men of faith, he told her they were connected due to a prophecy.
Knowing his fate, he connected with each Mayfair witch, including Rowan’s mother, Dierdre, the 12th Mayfair witch.
Since Rowan is Dierdre’s daughter, she is the 13th in the Mayfair line. Lasher realizes he needs to get connected to her as well.
Meanwhile, Ciprien and Rowan get together without knowing the prophecy. Later, she gets pregnant with his child, opening a gateway for Lasher to free himself from his supernatural existence and be a human being again.
Moreover, Talamasca leader Albrech tells Ciprien that Cortland Mayfair killed his niece Deirdre to pave the way for the fulfillment of the ancient prophecy.
Ciprien says he should be freed as he is also a part of the same and the father of Rowan’s baby. He then learns that Cortland is indeed Rowan’s father.
Mayfair Witches Season 1 Ending Explained
The season 1 finale begins with Lasher burning Keith alive after being commanded by a wounded Rowan.
Meantime, Cortland refuses to share the truth behind his obsession with Rowan. Ciprien learns that Cortland ordered Deirdre’s murder, and Talamasca wiped all the psychic traces at the crime scene.
Lasher powers Rowan’s thoughts, taking her to Suzanne’s house in her mind. The neurosurgeon has a vision of getting bewildered by the powers Lasher grants her, and both get intimate.
When she wakes up, Lasher is gone, and as she walks around the house, searching for him, her belly starts to grow.
Rowan hears his voice asking her to follow her ancestor’s path and he assures her he will be there with her at the witching hour.
She fails to understand the message and is suddenly transported through different rooms as the clock ticks down.
It was Cortland who dragged her body out of the forest to the mausoleum in real-time.
Rowan is still unconscious and has events going on in her mind. She is still following her ancestor’s path and meets her mom in the last room.
Her mother tells her that Lasher has run out of the clock.
She is carrying Lasher in her belly. She finally learns she is the doorway for him to take a human form. She then wakes up and sees the spirit of Suzanne helping her to deliver the baby.
She delivers a healthy boy, and Suzanne tells her if she accepts the child, he will give her more power. She then notices that the baby boy is growing fast.
Rowan decides she won’t let Cortland take her son, who is already crawling. She soon turns Cortland into a stone and says she knows what he did to her mom.
And while she was walking out of the mausoleum with her baby, she finds Ciprien waiting for her. He offers to carry the baby and the neurosurgeon senses someone else’s presence there.
She knew he was trying to take the child, so she walks away from him carrying the baby.
