Stephen Bate is a paralympic cyclist and athlete with a visual impairment. He competes in tandem races along with his pilot Adam Duggleby.
Bate and Duggleby represented Great Britain at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games and won silver in the Individual pursuit B. They previously won two golds at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
They also won the 2018 UCI World Para-cycling Tandem B Individual Pursuit and Tandem B Individual Time Trial. They are the current World Tandem B Time Trial champions after winning the 2021 UCI Para-cycling World Championships in Cascais, Portugal.

Despite his vision loss, Bate got accepted to British Cycling’s Paralympic Development Program in 2013 and teamed up with sight pilot Adam Duggleby. Together, the duo won two gold medals in the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
They recently also won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics games.
