After fresh information emerged regarding the domestic abuse issue that resulted in a restraining order against him earlier this month in Puerto Rico, Ricky Martin is denying any sort of romantic contact with his nephew.
Media reports claim that Martin’s 21-year-old nephew was the accuser who made the order anonymously and claimed to have dated the Puerto Rican artist for seven months.
According to the ruling, they split up two months ago, but according to the petitioner, Martin did not accept the split and had been spotted at least three times loitering close to the petitioner’s home.
“Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Marty Singer, Martin’s attorney, said in a statement to Billboard.
“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
Judge Raiza Cajigas Campbell of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, Puerto Rico, issued a restraining order against the performer on July 2.
According to police spokesperson Axel Valencia, authorities attempted to serve the order in the singer’s hometown of Dorado in the north of the island.
