The court records have shown that Amir Rashad, aka Kafani, aka Mark Hicks, was sentenced on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge James Donato after a few months of Kafani pleading guilty to conspiracy in a multimillion-dollar fraud, including an identity theft ring.
Kafani is the last person among six defendants who are to be sentenced. However, there is a seventh person the authorities haven’t yet named, and the person is a fugitive.
Rashad’s crime involves playing a lead role in a scheme to file loan applications for individuals in the name of wealthy and unwilling people. The sum was converted into bars of gold and coins and then sold for cash amounts. Rashad, in an agreement, has admitted that he had directed a team of some criminals who stole about $2 million from financial institutions.
