Crothers surely tells the story of hope and perseverance.

What Is Paralympic Rowan Crothers Disability?

Paralympic Rowan Crothers disability is cerebral palsy and chronic lung disease.

Apparently, Crothers was born as a premature baby. Contrary to the normal 40 weeks, his mother gave him birth in just 15 weeks.

This led Rowan Crothers to have a type of cerebral palsy called spastic diplegia. It is a chronic neuromuscular condition that results in stiffness and tightness of the muscles.

The Olympian has a mild level of illness. He reportedly suffers from stiffness in his lower limbs and right arm. In addition, he also struggles with chronic lung disease.

Rowan’s mind – on the other hand – is stronger than many of us. He has trained his body to be a professional swimmer.

The cerebral plasy does affect the efficiency of Crothers’s swimming kick, which is an integral headstart of any swimming race. Nevertheless, he spent years practising his propulsion style to perfect his leg strength and coordination instead.

It was 2011 when the swimmer made his debut in the Arafura Games. He not only took the bronze medal in the Men’s 400m MC freestyle but also broke 4 Australian National Age Records that day.

Moreover, the Queensland Swimming Association also named him the 2011 Swimmer of the Meet State Multi-Class Swimming Championships.
