What is the Teeth Whitening trend on TikTok? Many TikTok users are using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to whiten their teeth, and dentists are warning against its use.

TikTok is a platform where you can find all sorts of videos. Many TikTok users create content to motivate themselves and others, while other creators just want to have fun.

And, it’s completely fine to motivate people. More than half the people visit the site to find inspiration and ways to complete tasks they’d been procrastinating.

However, nothing should be above one’s own health.

Currently, the Teeth Whitening trend is making buzz on the video-sharing platform. And, it is undoubtedly garnering a lot of attention not just from teenagers or adolescents, but from dentists as well.

This is not the first time the teeth whitening trend has dominated social media.

Last year, people were using 3% hydrogen peroxide or bleach to whiten their teeth. The trend quickly gained attention on TikTok and was referred to as a ‘dangerous teeth whitening trend’.

Dentists slammed the trend and warned users not to use such DIY methods. Once again, there’s another trend that’s showing up on social media.

What Is Teeth Whitening Trend On TikTok?

A TikTok user @theheatherdunn posted a TikTok video showing how she whitens her teeth with a Magic Eraser.

Magic erasers are cleaning sponges that contain chemicals and are harmful if used on skin or ingested. The product’s packaging says so on the backside of the product.

Further, the TikTok user said she’d been using the product for the last two years and her teeth are as healthy as ever. She also stated she is prepared for all the dentists to criticize her method, but’s it’s worked for her.

When she goes to the dentist, she doesn’t tell them what she does and they told her she’s got the healthiest and cleanest teeth.

Aside from the Magic eraser, she also does oil pulling.

The video has since garnered a lot of attention from viewers. Many viewers decided to give it a try, while many were skeptical to use the product.

One user even commentated that magic erasers are literally sandpaper and are not healthy at all.

Is Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Teeth Whitening Safe Or Not?

Dr. Benjamin Winters, in a Youtube response video, flat out stated that magic erasers are not good for the teeth. If anything, it’s hazardous to your teeth and health.

Magic erasers are made up of melanin foam, which when mixed with water and other ingredients, becomes hard as glass and acts as really abrasive sandpaper.

Dr. Winters also mentioned that @theheatherdunn’s teeth are white because she’s scrubbed all the enamel off. He warns users not to try this method.

Another medical expert, Dr. Sujatha Reddy also said it’s not beneficial to use any kind of chemicals in your mouth.

Furthermore, as per the U.S patent, magic erasers contain ingredients like melamine, sulfurous acid, formaldehyde, and sodium. Among these, formaldehyde and sulfurous acid are the biggest concern.
