James William Buffett was born on December 25, 1946, and is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, actor, and businessman.
He is best known for his music, which often portrays an “island escapism” lifestyle. Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett has recorded hit songs including “Margaritaville” (ranked 234th on the Recording Industry Association of America’s list of “Songs of the Century”) and “Come Monday”. He has a devoted base of fans known as “Parrotheads”.

Buffett is one of the world’s richest musicians, with a net worth as of 2023 of $1 billion.
In 2020 Buffett released Songs You Don’t Know by Heart, a fan-curated collection of his lesser-known songs rerecorded on his collection of notable guitars.
During a performance in Nashville, Tennessee on April 11, 2023, Buffett said he had recorded an album entitled “Equal Strain on All Parts.” Buffett got the idea for the album title from his grandfather’s description of a nap. The album has yet to be released.
