This initial version of the challenge was playful, and nothing destructive was in there. But the challenge was distorted by some of the TikTok users as they initiated injuring themselves and then cover the wound with the balm.
The matter became worse went the challenge was made into a game where one needs to put on lip balm every day until it is empty, and then they need to end their own life.
