Every day, TikTok users create new challenges, the most recent is “hogging,” which is a competition popular among college students in the United States.

On October 4, a TikTok user posted about the same challenge, and the short video was also able to reach over a million views and sparked endless discussion online.

Hogging has also sparked a discussion among TikTok users about a number of other college practices that can be frightening and often predatory.

Hogging in Fraternities is actually a practice experienced by women who are considered to be oversized.

Hogging is extremely common in many college fraternities which are not considered to be a good thing.

Megan Maepes, a plus-sized fashion and body positivity activist, told Buzzfeed about the heinous practice, saying, “Hogging is a practice of achieving masculinity.”

“One of the ways men can do that, in their eyes, is by sleeping with the greatest number of people possible,” the influencer continues. They see obese women as easy prey.”

Typically, these college students prey on women they perceive to be ‘fat’ or ‘unattractive.’ This leads to body shaming and other related kinds of issues.

Hogging was already described with its meaning on Urban Dictionary even before getting viral on Tiktok.

As disturbing as it sounds, many internet users will not be pleased with the true definition of Hogging.

The term is already in the urban dictionary and is defined as a competition, usually between a group of men, that involves going to a bar/frat/house party.

Participants go with the explicit goal of hooking up with the chubbiest girl at the party. When the guy who gets the fattest girl is declared the winner, the competition is over.

Zeta Beta Tau was investigated after multiple reports were filed against the fraternity, whose behavior was deemed undesirable and intended to humiliate women.

Competition Slammed In TikTok

The hogging completion is finally getting slammed in Tiktok after many people became aware of its meaning.

As a result of Megan Maepes’s interview about hogging, the competition is heavily criticized by the Tiktok users as well.

A Cornell University fraternity was placed on probation in 2018 after a few students competed in a “pig roast,” which is similar to hogging.

According to reports, students attempted to sleep with a number of overweight women. The male students who took part had to be educated on sexual violence as well.

Because several victims were harmed as a result of hogging, the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity was placed on probation.
