What is Diana Canova doing now? Net Worth, Measurements

Who is Diana Canova and what is she doing now?

Diana Canova was born in West Palm Beach, Florida USA, on 1 June 1953 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds American nationality. She is an actress, film director and a professor, who is perhaps still best known for her portrayal of the supporting character Corinne Tate in the romantic comedy series “Soap” which was created by Susan Harris, and starred Katherine Helmond, Rod Roddy and Richard Mulligan. The story follows the lives of two families – the Tates and the Campbells – and it won seven awards including a Golden Globe while it was nominated for 18 other awards.

Diana retired from acting in 2011 and has since been leading an apparently relaxed life with her husband.

Childhood and education

Diana was raised an only child in the Greater Los Angeles Area, by her father Filberto Rivero who was a musician from Cuba, and her mother Judy Canova who was a famous American actress, singer and radio personality – she has a half-sister, Tweeny Canova from her mother’s previous marriage to Chester B. England.

Diana attended Hollywood High School at which she became interested in acting, and appeared in several plays performed at the school. She also appeared in multiple plays at a local theatre, where she practiced her acting skills nearly every day. Upon matriculation in 1971, Diana enrolled at Los Angeles City College, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 1974.

Roles in TV series

Diana made her debut TV series appearance in 1973, when she portrayed The First Girl in the episode “Dropout” of the comedy “Ozzie’s

Girls”, which starred Harriet Nelson, Brenda Sykes and Susan Sennett, and is about Ozzie and Harriet who rent rooms to two college girls after their two sons move out.

The following years saw Diana guest star in single episodes of many series, such as the comedy family musical “Happy Days” in 1974, the action crime drama “Starsky and Hutch” and the comedy “Chico and the Man” both in 1976. She gained recognition in 1978 when she was invited to portray four different characters in four episodes of the adventure comedy drama “Fantasy Island”, which starred Ricardo Montalban, Herve Villechaize and Christopher Hewett, and which is about people staying at a unique resort island located somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

The following year saw her guest star in the episode “Strip Joint” of the comedy drama “Barney Miller”, and in 1980, Diana was invited to portray Diana Cassidy, one of the lead characters in the comedy series “I’m a Big Girl Now”, which also starred Danny Thomas and Rori King, and is about a dentist who finds a divorced woman to live with him after his wife has run away with his colleague.

The year 1983 saw her appear in multiple series: she portrayed the lead character Harriet Foot in all six episodes of the comedy “Foot in the Door”, guest starred in the episode “Flashback” of the romantic drama “Hotel”, and appeared in the episode “A Wheel in a Wheel” of the drama “Trapper John, M. D.”.

Between 1977 and 1985, Diana appeared in three episodes of the romantic comedy drama “The Love Boat”, and then guest starred in the episode “Family Ties” of the comedy drama “St. Elsewhere” in 1986. The same year saw her start portraying the lead character Sandy Beatty in the comedy “Throb”, which also starred Jonathan Prince and Jane Leeves, and is about a young record company executive who is searching for new talent.

Her next notable performance was in 1993, when she starred as Vanessa Bailey in the critically acclaimed comedy “Home Free”, while her final role in TV series before retiring from acting was in the crime mystery drama “Murder, She Wrote”, in which she played three characters in three episodes in 1996.

Roles in movies

Diana made her debut film appearance in 1975, when she portrayed Daughter-in-law in the drama “Medical Story”, written by Abby Mann, directed by Gary Nelson, and which starred Beau Bridges, Claude Akins and Wendell Burton. The story follows a young intern who argues with three experienced surgeons about whether a young actress should undergo an hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).

The following year saw Diana appear in the musical comedy “The First Nudie Musical”, and some of her following roles in movies were in the comedy “The Love Boat II” in 1977, the comedy drama “With This Ring” in 1978, and the thriller “The Death of Ocean View Park” in 1979.

She played the lead character, Susan in the drama “Peking Encounter” in 1981, which also starred Mason Adams and June Lockhart, and two years later Diana portrayed another lead character – Lauren Hensley – in the action crime drama “Night Partners”. She appeared in her first short film “No Complaints!” in 1985, and then went on to appear in several others such as “The Bruce Diet” in 1992, “Miss Nelson Is Back” and “Miss Nelson Has a Field Day” both in 1999.

Diana made her voicing debut in 2000 with the lead character in the animated short film “The Island of the Skog”, and in 2001 voiced lead characters in three short movies “Antarctic Antics”, “Trashy Town” and “Space Case”.

Three of her final roles in movies before retiring from acting were in the short family film “Do Unto Otters” in which she played Ms. Otter in 2008, the 2009 short family film “The Scrambled States of American Talent Show” in which she portrayed multiple characters, and the short comedy horror “How (Not) to Borrow a Car” written and directed by Annika Kurnick in 2011.

Love life and husband

Diana dated the late American actor and comedian Steven Landesberg in the early ‘70s, while they were both still working their way up in the film industry – they were together for around one year before splitting for unknown reasons. In 1974, she met Geoff Levin, an American rock musician and a songwriter, who is perhaps still best known for having founded and served as the lead singer of the band ‘People!’ They dated for two years before marrying in a private ceremony attended by their closest friends and family on 2 May 1976, however, they divorced three years later on 10 April 1979 – it’s believed that Diana filed for divorce because Geoff was cheating on her, and didn’t want to have children.

In 1980, Diana met Elliot Scheiner, an American music producer and engineer, when they were introduced by a mutual friend at a party, and they married two years later on 24 July 1982; Diana give birth to their two children whom they have been keeping away from the media’s attention.

Diana has been living with Elliot since they married, so as of September 2020, she is married to her second husband and has two children.

Hobbies and interests

Diana enjoyed modelling during her 20s and 30s, but always looked at it as a hobby rather than as a job – she even appeared in the November issue of the magazine “Playboy” in 1979 (not nude).  She was a member of the Church of Scientology, but began criticizing it after leaving, stated how they are very open in asking for money, and in an interview she gave to the magazine “Premiere”, saying that she was told to give them all the money in her bank account as soon as she joined the church.
