What is provided at the IP layer?
The IP layer provides an unreliable, connectionless delivery system. The reason why it is unreliable stem from the fact the protocol does not provide any functionality for error recovering for datagrams that are either duplicated, lost or arrive to the remote host in another order than they are send.
Which is internetwork layer protocol?
Internet Layer. This layer, also known as the network layer, accepts and delivers packets for the network. It includes the powerful Internet protocol (IP), the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) protocol, and the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) protocol.
What layer is responsible for routing messages through an internetwork in the TCP IP model?
Answers Explanation & Hints:
The TCP/IP model consists of four layers: application, transport, internet, and network access. Of these four layers, it is the internet layer that is responsible for routing messages.
Which layer provides the services to user?
application layer
Which layer provides the services to user? Explanation: In networking, a user mainly interacts with application layer to create and send information to other computer or network. Application layer provides the interface between applications and the network. It is the top-most layer in both the TCP/IP and the OSI model.
What is the purpose of the network layer?
The primary function of the network layer is to enable different networks to be interconnected. It does this by forwarding packets to network routers, which rely on algorithms to determine the best paths for the data to travel.
What is the main function of network layer?
The main function of the network layer or layer 3 of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model is delivery of data packets from the source to the destination across multiple hops or links. It also controls the operation of the subnet.
