There is a new agenda TikTokers have these days called “Ban Zoe From TikTok”. This is a different course of action Tikokers have used from their usual dances and challenges and random hashtags. There is a TikTok use named Zoe Laverne who used the racial slur word “nigger” on her TikTok video.
There have been many examples of people saying racist words on TikTok and creating content with racist flavor in it. Most of the creators use racial slurs when lip-syncing to rap songs sung by black artists where the use of “n-word” is frequent.
Moreover, some people end up making stereotypes out of a particular ethnicity while trying to deliver ethnic humor but end up failing terribly and create racist content. While there are many people who have this problem, today let’s just focus on Zoe Laverne’s issue.
What Is Ban Zoe From TikTok 2020?
She lip-synced the word “nigger” when she was lip-syncing to Nicki Minaj’s lyrics and all people went crazy about that. It is indeed a horrible thing to say but she might be only doing it innocently because she somehow thought it was okay to lip-sync the word because it would mean that it’s not her word.

As you can see in this slowed-down video, she appears to say the n-word but is lip-syncing when she does it. So, this puts people at an uncomfortable position because some people think she is racist for using the word and some people believe she was just lip-syncing and it’s not her word.
Zoe Laverne Uses “N word”…But How Many Times?
There are many videos on Twitter and Youtube where people have claimed Zoe used the “n word” and they have been posting videos by slowing down the audio and commenting on her videos and stuff.
Apparently, some people are saying that she has used the word 2 times both times while she was lip-syncing. Moreover, some videos were made where they showed an 8-year-old fan of Zoe using the “n-word”. People accused Zoe of encouraging her fans to use the word and things just got out of control.
Is the Petition Going To Succeed?
So far we can’t say whether she will be banned from the platform or not. But the issue here is not simple at all. There is a group of people who think that it’s just a lip sync video and it doesn’t mean that she’s a racist and some of her fans who absolutely deny that she even used any racial slurs.
However, there is another angry mob out there saying that regardless of the nature of the video whether it was a lip-sync or otherwise, as a white person, you must not use the n-word because it has a historical context that’s very demeaning to the black people.
Time and again, these things see their way to mainstream media and big debate about racism happens. A while ago, a Kendrick Lamar fan was invited on stage to sing Kendrick’s song by Kendrick himself. When the fan sang “n-word”, he was kicked off the stage.
I agree that some people might not have racist intentions while using the word but one has to understand and be more sensitive about history and refrain from using that word as much as possible. In fact, not use it at all.
In a recent BBC Live performance, Harry Styles was performing a Lizzo song where there were some N bombs in the lyrics. He just replaced those words with something else and sang the song anyway.
So, we must just see how this thing with Zoe is going to happen whether she will be banned or not in the coming days.
