Wes Welker Injury And Health Condition: What Happened?

Wes Welker, a former wide receiver for the NFL who had six concussions diagnosed during his professional football tenure, claimed he couldn’t go through life fearing his “brain is likely to explode at any second.”

Basically, he said to ESPN during a publicity campaign for Massachusetts-based Leonard Hair Transplant Associates, “I can’t sit here and stress about it; I don’t want to live my life that way.”

“Is there a chance [of long-term effects]? Maybe not; I have no idea. We’ll have to wait and see how everything plays out.”

“I’ll do whatever I can to position myself so I’m healthy and probably in good shape soon. I suppose it’s great if I’m good. However, I’m not going to live my life fearing that my brain could burst at any moment.”

Denial Of LOD Benefits And His Displeasure Tweet With The League

Welker applied to the NFL’s Line of Duty Disability (LOD) scheme after suffering injuries.

If a player suffers from a “substantial deprivation arising out of NFL football activities,” they may be eligible for a short-term disability payment even if they are not permanently disabled, per disabilitydenials.com.

Welker, currently the Miami Dolphins’ wide receivers coach, posted his disgust with the league on Saturday morning after the LOD was rejected.

“@NFL, I’m too busy and impatient to deal with this,” he tweeted. It’s been 18 years since I started working for the NFL, and I’m still here. This is bush league content.

In response, the NFL claimed that it could not determine whether Welker’s procedures were “done as a result of injuries experienced while playing in the NFL.”

Further, the NFL asked Welker to send other medical records to achieve the LOD.
