What Happened To Victor Hedman? Tampa Bay Lightning Left Defenseman Injury update

Victor Erik Olof Hedman, also known as Victor Hedman, is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman. He previously also had surgery because of his injury; now, he is injured.

He is an ice hockey defenceman and substitutes captain for the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL). The Lightning selected Hedman second overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Hedman, widely regarded as one of the best defensemen in the NHL, is a five-time James Norris Memorial Trophy finalist who won the award in 2018. Hedman won two Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021 and the Conn Smythe Trophy for a most valuable player in the end-of-season games in 2020.

What Happened To Victor Hedman?

The Tampa Bay Lightning could be dealing with yet another key injury after star defenseman Victor Hedman took a bad high hit from New York Rangers forward Alexis Lafreniere in the second period of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals in 2022.

Lafreniere missed his hit, but he injured Hedman, who was quickly removed from the game by blackout spotters and shipped off to the storage facility. Given the importance of the assignment, Hedman could have done without his ice experience being cut short.

Hedman is undeniably a key component of Lightning’s recent success. With his ability to play high on both ends of the rink, he remains one of the most impressive blueliners in the NHL. Hedman finished the regular season as the Bolts’ second-best player in assists (65) and negative. 2 in focuses (85).

Tampa Bay Lightning Left Defenseman Injury update

Victor Hedman was in a fiery mood cause of his recent injury. The veteran defenseman threw his stick into the boards in front of the Lightning bench, tearing the blade off, then shouted at referee Chris Rooney as he walked away.

He was understandably unhappy after getting punched in the jaw by the Rangers’ Alexis Lafreniere midway through the second period Saturday at Amalie Arena.

Hedman was even less pleased when, at the request of the concussion spotter, he had to depart for the dressing room, slamming the door behind him and marching down the runway.

Victor Hedman Family Details

He is a 6’6″ Swedish defenceman who played in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015. The Lightning drafted him second overall in the 2009 NHL Draft.

In 2007 and 2008, he was named to the World U18 All-Star Team and the World Junior All-Star Team 2008.

In both 2008 and 2009, he helped Sweden earn silver at the World Junior Championships. Oscar and Johan, his two older brothers, raised him. However, details on his other family members are not yet disclosed.

Hedman began his ice hockey career with the Modo Hockey Association in the Swedish J20 SuperElit. During his most noteworthy entire season in the league, 2006-07, he maintained 25 focuses in 34 games. Hedman then, at that point, turned proficient and got the Elitserien with Modo at 16 years old.
