Travis Kalanick’s departure from Uber has made multiple headlines. Kalanick announced his retirement from the board of directors on December 24, 2019, with an end date of December 31, 2019.
Travis, on the other hand, made a lot of money when he left. According to CNBC, he began selling part of his Uber shares in 2019 and made an astonishing $2.8 billion from it alone.
Business Insider claimed in January 2020 that Kalanick’s new venture has raised $15 billion in additional capital.
What Happened To Travis Kalanick?
Uber was created in Travis Kalanick’s image. Under his leadership, the firm broke into markets, breaking local transportation restrictions, eluding law enforcement, and battling with authorities on its way to becoming the world’s largest ride-hailing company.
Kalanick’s outspoken manner was credited with both Uber’s ascent and his personal demise in 2017 when he was forced to leave under investor pressure following a series of controversies.
Uber has been trying hard to clean up its image and look more demure and well-behaved since Kalanick was fired.
Dara Khosrowshahi, the business’s new CEO, has worked hard to break free from Kalanick’s 14 company values, substituting phrases like “super stoked” and “always be hustin'” with slogans like “we do the right thing” and “we endure.”
But Kalanick isn’t completely out of the picture as Uber prepares for its much-anticipated initial public offering.
According to CNBC, Travis was fired from Uber in 2017 after several concerns about the company’s culture, workplace difficulties, and treatment of its users and drivers arose.
He stepped down from the board of directors on December 24 to “concentrate on his new business and charitable pursuits,” according to the corporation.
What Is Travis Kalanick Doing Now?
After leaving Uber, Travis Kalanick founded 10100, a venture capital business, as well as City Storage Systems, a company that redevelops distressed real estate. He is now the CEO of CloudKitchens’ parent firm, which he founded.
CloudKitchens helps restaurateurs start meal delivery businesses by renting commercial cooking space and providing fulfillment services.
Kalanick revealed that his venture fund had invested $150 million in City Storage Systems (CSS), a firm focusing on the rehabilitation of distressed real estate assets, and that he would serve as its CEO shortly after the introduction of his venture fund.
In June 2018, CSS subsidiary CloudKitchens, a ghost kitchen management firm, acquired a majority position in FoodStars, a U.K.-based startup.
Travis Kalanick Net Worth: Is He Rich?
TKalanick’s net worth is now estimated to be at $2.7 billion dollars, according to Forbes. He paid $36.5 million for a Soho penthouse with a pool and terrace in August 2019, making it the most expensive residence sold in New York that month.
He purchased a $43.3 million Los Angeles property in 2020. Kalanick began dating Victoria’s Secret model Daniela Lopez Osorio in early 2021, according to Page Six, but the couple has since broken up.
Kalanick put $300 million into the firm himself, and the Wall Street Journal claimed in November 2019 that Saudi Arabia’s national wealth fund had agreed to invest $400 million in CloudKitchens in January 2019.
