What Happened To Terrance Williams? Missing Update – Disappeared After Accident

Terrance Williams was 27 years old when he went missing in January 2004. Learn more about the disappearance and accident of the Tennessee man missing from Florida, and his recent update in 2022.

Williams was last seen being arrested by then-Deputy in the Collier County Sheriff’s Department, Steve Calkins. Calkins claimed to have dropped Williams at the Circle K convenience store.

The disappearance has been a topic of high interest and has been covered in a number of tv shows including Disappeared, Dateline NBC, and Anderson Cooper 360.

American actor and director Tyler Perry discussed the disappearance on the Al Sharpton’s talk show and offered a $200,000 reward for the information in the case. The case was documented in the series Never Seen Again’s pilot episode.

What Happened To Terrance Williams?

Terrance Williams went missing on January 12, 2004, from Naples, Florida. His roommate emailed his mother when he did not return home after the last speaking to him on January 11.

Williams was born on January 17, 1976, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He moved to Naples, Florida to be near his mother. He has four children and lived in Florida with his roommate Jason Gonzalez during the time of his disappearance.

Steve Calkins was the deputy who was last seen with Williams by cemetery employees. Terrance has been missing ever since. It has been 18 years and 3 months since his disappearance.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Steve Calkins by the victim’s families on August 30, 2018. They are being represented by civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump.

The incident was well documented in the new series Never Seen Again, which was narrated by actor Tyler Perry. The series follows the real-life mysteries of people disappearing in thin air.

Initial Investigation Of The Disappearance

William’s Cadillac had been towed from Naples Memorial Cemetery after obstructing traffic. His aunt was able to track down the car and learned that Deputy Steve Calkins of the Collier County Sheriff’s Department had signed the tow report. It was later known that the sheriff hadn’t filed any incident report nor made any arrest.

Workers at the cemetery told that they witness Calkins pull Williams over and ask him for identification, which he did not possess. Calkins then patted Williams and put him in the back of his patrol car after asking the employees if he could leave the Cadillac in the lot.

Upon being contacted by the dispatch following the constant calls from the Williams family, Calkins claimed to have no memory of having any car towed or making any arrest on the day of the disappearance.

Disappearance Of Felipe Santos

Felipe Santos had gone missing under similar circumstances three months prior to the disappearance of Terrance Williams. He was born on January 1, 1979, in Oaxaca, Mexico, and moved to Immokalee, Florida. He was living illegally in the US before his disappearance.

Santos was 24 years old during his disappearance on October 1, 2003. He was last seen riding away with Calkins, who cited him for reckless driving with his two brothers and was involved in a minor car accident. Upon being contacted by his employers, it was discovered that the county jail never booked Santos.

Calkins claimed that he changed his mind about the arrest of Santos and left him at the local Circle K and drove off. He attributed Santos’ polite and cooperative nature to be the reason he didn’t arrest him.

The similar nature of the arrest and disappearance of Williams and Santos has raised questions about the Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Calkins, who has since been fired from the department for providing conflicting information about both cases and not cooperating with the investigation.

Early Life And College: Marc Ewing was born on May 9, 1969. While attending Carnegie Mellon University, where he graduated in 1992, he became known for wearing a red hat around campus as he walked to classes. The hat was a red Cornell University lacrosse hat given to him by his grandfather. Thanks to his reputation for being great with computers, fellow students would seek out “the man with the red hat” when they needed tech help. Red Hat: After graduating from college, Marc began developing what would later become Red Hat Linux, an open-source Linux distribution. The beta was released in May 1995. That same year, Marc sold his software to an entrepreneur named Bob Young. The two ultimately decided to merge Bob’s Linux software catalog business and Red Hat Linux into a newly-named Red Hat Software. Bob Young served as CEO. Marc Ewing served as Chief Technology Officer. Red Hat’s business model, which was revolutionary at the time, was to make open-source software for free or very low cost, then charge a fee for further development, quality assurance and customer support. Within a decade, it would be the first open source technology company to surpass $1 billion in annual revenue. IPO: On August 11, 1999, Red Hat went public. It was the height of the dotcom bubble and it ended up being the eighth-largest first day gain in Wall Street history at that time. Red Hat was supposed to price at $10. After the bubble burst in 2001, the stock dropped as low as $3 a share. So Marc’s 9 million shares went from being worth $900 million to $27 million. The price per share eventually recovered, hovering in the $25 range for much of the period between 2004 and 2010. Red Hat’s stock exploded to $150+ in 2018 after IBM indicated interest in acquiring the company. IBM Acquisition: In July 2019 Red Hat was acquired by IBM for $34 billion.
