What Happened To Tara Ord Sidorovich? Woman Killed By Septic Repairmen

Tara Ord was 19 years old when she disappeared from her Florida home in October 2001. Tara and her mother were originally from West Scranton, Pennsylvania, but had relocated to Florida 14 months prior to her disappearance, hoping for a fresh start.

She had been waiting at home alone for two repairmen to arrive to fix a septic tank when she disappeared. Her skeletonized were found ten months later in a wooded area of Charlotte County.

At the time, David McMannis worked for Phillip Barr, who ran a septic service company. They had been called to the Ord house in Punta Gorda on the day she disappeared for a repair.

Police were immediately suspicious of Barr and McMannis when she disappeared because they were the last people to see her alive. Before her remains were discovered, a thorough search had been conducted, which even included looking through nearby sewage tanks.

Authorities were unable to uncover any conclusive proof, and Tara’s location remained unknown for months. She vanished nine months later, and when her body was found in Punta Gorda, Florida, close to Burnt Store Road, it was determined that she had suffered blunt force injuries to the ribs.

Where Are Her Killers Phillip Barr And David McMannis Today?

At the moment, Barr is completing his sentence at the Dade Correctional Institution in Homestead. Similarly, McMannis is being detained at the Northwest Florida Reception Center in Washington County.

David McMannis and Phillip Barr received life sentences in prison in 2015. In 2017, David Ray McMannis was found guilty of first-degree murder and given a life sentence without the chance of parole.

The killers escaped for over a decade, but when detectives decided to revisit the case, they discovered that on the day Tara disappeared, David Ray McMannis and Phillip Barr arrived at her home for plumbing work.

Although both men were considered suspects, the police had no evidence linking them to the crime. According to News-Press, a man named Michael Artell contacted police in 2007 after watching a true crime show about a case and offering to help them with information.

The case remained unsolved for many years until a Cold Case Squad was formed in 2005, at which point they gradually built a case against Barr and McMannis.
