Mariya Agapova (8-1) has been forced to withdraw from her Invicta FC 39 bout against Daiana Torquato (9-3) due to injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian collision in South Florida.
She was walking home from training when the guy glanced the wrong way and ran her over and pushed her down, says the witness. She had a severe, deep gash in her elbow, where we could see the bone.
The physical injuries were only a small portion of the issue. The mayhem that ensued was also difficult for someone who was 7,000 miles away from her home.
In the end, everything worked out perfectly, with Agapova recuperating from her injuries in time to make her professional debut at the UFC on ESPN 10 event this past weekend.
