Luna Crypto Coin’s sudden fall has shaken the investment world today and the shareholders are intrigued to know the predictions of its fate in the near future.
Most investors are aware of how volatile the bitcoin market has been recent. However, it’s been catastrophic for investors in algorithmic stablecoin Terra.
LUNA tokens serve as the network’s reserve currency, supporting the UST token. Terra maintains its peg by minting and burning its native token, LUNA, in addition to some Bitcoin and other digital assets. To put it another way, the stability of UST is highly dependent on the stability of LUNA.
What Happened To LUNA Crypto Coin?
Terra investors were devastated in less than 48 hours as the native token LUNA fell to its lowest level in a year. The token, which had already lost 55% on Tuesday, lost another 85% on Wednesday. It has wiped out nearly all of the wealth of investors in the previous several days.
The toke hit an intraday low of $4.21 on Wednesday, after trading at about $66 on Monday. The coin is now trading at 97 percent of its all-time high of $118.
TerraUSD (UST), its stablecoin, has lost its dollar peg for the third day in a row. As a result of UST’depegging,’ the price of LUNA, its sibling token, has plummeted.
“During periods of extreme volatility or sudden market crashes, it may be difficult for UST to maintain its peg,” WazirX Trade Desk noted. “In a perfect world where market forces work as they should, LUNA’s tokenomics are fundamentally sound.”
The Terra network aims to acquire $10 billion in Bitcoin as a UST reserve in order to maintain the stablecoin’s value stable, which is the only justification for using Bitcoin to back UST.
Will LUNA Crypto Coin Ever Recover?
Terra (LUNA-USD) price forecasts are on traders’ minds as they respond to today’s crypto meltdown, which has sent prices lower.
Concerns about the condition of the market have been weighing heavily on cryptos in recent days. Concerns about rising inflation, rising interest rates, a potential recession, and other reasons are among them.
The stablecoin UST is an “algorithmic” stablecoin. To manage supply and stabilize pricing, it employs a complicated system of minting and burning tokens. The price of UST has lately fallen due to a sell-off in cryptocurrencies, causing more concern in the market.
Even as digital currency values fall, CEO Brian Armstrong stressed Tuesday that the crypto exchange is “not in danger of going bankrupt.”
